Are you paying a PCI compliance fee for taking card payments?

Following on from my blog post about bank charges there is another area of charges you should review.  If you use a card terminal such as Barclaycard to take card payments in addition to their bank charges you will see a PCI charge.  This is a non-compliance fee and is a percentage of your receipts.

This non compliance fee started being charged a couple of years ago and you will be charged it every month until you complete an online compliance questionnaire,  You will have to pay a charge to complete the questionnaire but once completed the PCI fee will cease.  You will need to renew your compliance every year.

The charges from your card provider can be quite significant so it is worth going through the compliance process.
